PROCESS:

So I started this one with a light pencil drawing to make sure I had the anatomy correct enough to move forwards. I Haven't drawn a brain in a while so i'm pleased with how it turned out.

After i have the pencil draft laid out i switch to my fine liner and tighten everything up, then going back and erasing the left over pencil lines.

Now i get to test the Deleter Black 4 that i ordered to see how dark it really is. Using a brush to lay out the black background, Then using FW white ink and a dip pen to dot the stars.
I am quite happy with how dark the Deleter Black 4 is, I definetly recommend it for anyone who wants really dark ink.

Now at about this point things went a bit wrong and I spilled a small amount of ink in one of the white areas of the brain, I should have just left it alone but the perfectionist in me wasn't having any of that.
During the time i took to try to fix this issue i ended up damaging the piece and had to go over it with white ink to salvage it, which wouldn't be an issue if i was using anything else other then alcohol based markers (They don't show up well enough on the white ink).

Being that i couldn't physically color this piece with markers anymore i decided to try to color it digitally, first scanning it in two parts (My scanner is JUST too small to fit the whole thing.) and putting them together in photoshop.

Taking the time to line them up correctly, adjusting the levels to make it darker and a couple other tweaks later the linework is cleaned up.

Then I select all of the white and get rid of it so that i can lay my colors underneath the linework layer, coloring still takes me a few hours because i'm doing each wisp seperately, and after that i'll call it finished.

Crazy cool! A brain floating in space. How can anyone not like this?

Also, it kind of reminds of the flying spaghetti monster 🙂

Thanks man! He does resemble the flying spaghetti monster, especially with the goofy eyes.

Trippy :) Love it, this reminds me of the Grell from D&D

Thanks! I hate facing those guys, but I love their design.
