The hero, Link, and Princess Zelda are destined to cross paths time and time again as long as Hyrule is threatened by the forces of evil. Sometimes their interactions have been purely platonic, and other times more intimate. This version of Link sees right through Sheik's disguise and goes for the kiss under the moonlit night. How romantic!

This one is somewhat of an older illustration of mine from way back in 2009. I was using the Wacom Bamboo Fun drawing tablet and the Corel Painter Essentials software that it came with. That explains why the coloring style is different than most of my recent work. Unfortunately, I do not have the draft, sketch, or flat color versions of this artwork. I didn't start saving those intermediate images until years later.

The Line Art

Before I ever used Clip Studio Paint (in 2009 it was known as Manga Studio), I really likes Corel's pen tools and the stroke smoothing it had with the use of the Wacom. Adobe Photoshop brushes weren't as customizable now, so when I wanted variable width to my strokes I relied on Corel for my line art.

The Finished Illustration

Adobe was used for creating the flat color shapes, but Corel has some fantastic airbrush tools, which I used for the shadows and highlights. I went back and forth between the two softwares because I could only import and manipulate texture images to give my image some flair. During this time, I discovered edge shine lines and I really got a little carried away on this one.

Prints Available!

Available in multiple sizes to fit any room in your home or office. The 5" x 7" and 8.5" x 11" options are printed on glossy photo paper while the 11" x 17" print is made on thick and durable matte paper. These are museum-quality posters with rich colors and made to last. Makes for a great gift!

Do you ever get cranky having to switch between apps? It does my head in sometimes XD Do you still use Photoshop? Did it eventually get better for lineart? I remember having to use Illustrator for lineart and going into Photoshop for colouring (and hoping I would never have to fix the lineart XD).

I could never manipulate textures that well :O

Sometimes I do go back and forth between Adobe Photoshop and Clip Studio Paint, but mostly I use the later. Photoshop did improve, with the ability to customize brushes with smoothing, variable stroke, and brush hardness that is pen pressure activated. But Clip Studio Paint is my preferred illustrating app hands down! :D
