🥀Monarch Butterflies

Their migration is affected by climate change and soon, they might stop migrating in fact. Their lifespan is short but it doesn't mean they should live less.

All butterflies are threatened by air pollution, chemicals, pesticides, car exhausts, hairspray etc.
The butterfly trade makes it worse when in Indonesia alone, 5000 or more butterflies are traded "A DAY" for commercial purposes such as taxonomy, home decor, accessories and other trinkets.
Animals belong to the wild, they don't deserve to be killed for useless vanity. Fur, claws, skin, leather, teeth, wings, feathers, horns and tusks are beautiful especially when they are attached to its owner. Keep them alive.
Do the right thing and say no to animal cruelty, illegal trades and do your part for the environment. 👍

Alam mo ba na ang paru-paro ay simbolo ng bagong buhay o kabuhayan lalo na sa kalikasan? Kapag mayroong paru-paro sa paligid ay ibig sabihin ay malinis ang hangin, at masigla at marami ang mga halaman sa paligid. Gayun din sa presensya ng iba pang mga insekto tulad ng tutubi o dragonfly, mandarangkal at tipaklong. Kapansin pansin ang lubos na pag baba ng populasyon nila at minsan nalang natin nasisilayan ang mga hayop na ito. Ito ay dulot ng pagbabago ng paligid, industriyalisasyon at pag akyat ng komersyalismo. Mismong mga produkto natin sa pang araw araw ay nakaka lason sa tubig, lupa at hangin kung saan naninirahan ang mga insekto at hayop na ito. Maging aktibo po tayo sa pag alaga ng kalikasan!
Ano ang ginagawa mo sa kasalukuyan, siguro ramdam mo ang pag init ng panahon, madalas na pag baha at puno ng plastic ang paligid, basura sa tabi tabi at katawang tubig mapa dagat o ilog man ito. Alam mo, oo, pero kumikilos ka na ba? Gising Pilipino! Baka wala nang kalikasan ang kinabukasan ng anak niyo.(🕊️ Be enlightened, maliwanagan sana tayong lahat 👏)

🎨Art for a cause ✝️

I have always made wildlife art for animals, appreciation, awareness and action! My bees and butterflies contest is nearing its deadline with one day left! I am also making butterfly art and bee art (to follow)

Here it is!

THE PROCESS
The sketch comes first, then painting with light to dark process using flat tip brush and a pointed one, details like white dots and black markings go last.

Reflections:

🥀I didn't notice this was such a lengthy process: 3 days

🥀 Yes, there was a moment I felt like my painting wasn't looking so well, but it turned out just right. Never judge an unfinished artwork.

🥀Always ask advice if unsure about something, I asked several people what to do with background, I chose advise of popular filipina watercolorist Thea Ong - Click to see her Instagram page saying a washout blue would be fine. So i did, and now I learned it! I even left out white parts for clouds effect.

🥀 The art doesn't fit in the scanner so I took a pic using my phone. Next time measuring is a good idea.

🥀 Use paint in tubes, one art professor suggested I use tubes/ liquid watercolor since its more translucent unlike this one I'm using, it's powdery and a bit pale.

🥀 I'm happy with it!

🙀 I never really appreciated butterflies before I painted it. Children draw butterflies like back to back letter B's, I thought it's always boring but now that I tried to paint it realistically, all the details, color and textures, its complexity made me realize wow, they are super! I am glad I learned to see them in a new light.

🥀 They need our attention and care most of all, glad to participate in my own contest. Jk!
