What a disappointment I, when on 18 November 2017, failed to attend the show Commissioned Art at GAIA Cosmo Hotel, because I had to get out of the island and it is not possible to cancel the event. Thankful I still got a chance to see works of art that are already displayed some corner of GAIA Cosmo Hotel.
Commissioned Art itself is closely related to GAIA Art Movement, which is a community project initiated by GAIA Cosmo Hotel Yogyakarta to support and develop artistic talent of the artists based in Yogyakarta. Here's how: GAIA Cosmo Hotel provides sponsors and facilities to the artists, to create original works of art and provide space on-site presentation, so that it can reach out to a wider audience, both domestic and foreign tourists.

From a very strict selection and range considerations, finally elected to the 5 original artwork from artists that average 5 young, i.e. Ivan Bestari, Dery Ludira Yudha Pratama, Bodas, April Susanto, and Cheryl Shofianto. This was the beginning of the novel GAIA Cosmo Hotel, because in the future, this form of cooperation will also be conducted together with fashion designer, musician and other art workers.
The preparations undertaken by the five artists chosen, certainly requires time not arguably even briefly, they spent a month to realize a spectacular work of art. The selected themes relating to "nature", inspired from the name GAIA which means Earth in the language of Greece. The artists were also given the freedom to place your artwork on site GAIA Cosmo Hotel.

This is the second time I visited GAIA Cosmo Hotel, with the intent and purpose to see directly the artwork of each art performers based in the city of Gudeg.
