The 'MASK' Festival at Kolkata

Recently a mask festival or exhibition was held at Kolkata under 'West bengal information and cultural department about different masks.
It is a collection of Masks which are coming different parts or cities of west Bengal. This are vary as per its local culture and environment and necessity of people.

The mask are "MUKOSH" in Bengali. So in this post I will show you some amazing images of 'Mukosh' and with their origin with details (if any).

"CHOOU NACH" Mask

This kind of mask are mainly from Purulia district and used for Chow dance. The peoples of Parulia are making group dance by wearning this kind of Choou mukosh. The dance are mainly on tale of Godess Durga and Asur fighting.

"Bagpa or Bakpa" Mask

This is also a dance mask.This dance about defeat evil and for better humanity. Thsi mask are mainly used by Buddhist region peoples .Also know as LAMA mask. Mainly red,blue and white colored mask are available.

"Mukha Nach" Mask

This is are created for Mukha dance. This mask are from 'Uttar Dinajpur' District og West Bengal. This mask are created by crating woods.

"Parva Nach" Mask
