Pattern Design with a lot of nostalgia from my childhood

Today I've worked on a new pattern where the inspiration is from a bed linen that my parents have had since before I was born.
I will still work on composition, colors and shapes before I'll see myself done, just need it to sink in a little.

Anyway, here I am with my father in the bed linen that I've taken the inspiration from.

The bed linen is still in use, now located at our summer house. Here's a picture I took of it the past weekend.

I do actually like the original colors. Something like this could be nice.

I do feel though, that this pattern is too similar to the original to be called my own design. I think it's important not to copy others, and this is pretty close to it. I guess I just wanted to make a version in memory of the childhood I had with this pattern. I will see if I can work it further apart from the original. Anyhow, a fun pattern to work with.
