My Painting --- Two Cocks
Happy Friday Steemians!
Today I would like to share with you my new painting----Cocks. Chicken is a very important subject in painting, many people love to paint it. I like to draw it because it is really beautiful, especially its red comb and tail. furthermore, this year is the Year of the Rooster, so I want to draw a picture about cock as a souvenir.
Chicken (ji)is a homophone for " auspicious " in Chinese, so chicken is also an auspicious symbol in China. In ancient times, old people attached great importance to chicken not only because it is a lucky symbol, but also it is really important.
There were no alarm clocks in ancient times, when a cock crowed, people knew it's time to get up and work. So people also thought it was a trustworthy symbol.
What made it different is that this time I used the Gouache, which is opaque watercolor, and freehand brushwork in traditional Chinese painting.
Two cocks picked about the yard. I thought one was very tired lying on the grassland, the other had just came back after foraging. It seems that they get separated from their family.
The Process:
鸡在绘画里面是一个比较重要的题材，很多人都爱画它。因为“鸡”和“吉”谐音，所以它寓意着大吉大利，吉祥如意。而在我国古代，人们对鸡也非常重视。不仅仅因它是一个吉祥的象征，也有重要的意义。在古代，没有闹钟，不能按时叫醒人们，人们可以通过公鸡啼鸣来知晓天亮了，该起床干活。所以它也是守时守信的象征。我喜欢画它是因为大公鸡确实非常漂亮，尤其是那红红的鸡冠和鲜亮挺拔的尾巴。
这次我用的是水粉颜料。水粉画是介于水彩和油画之间的一种，有点像是不透明的水彩画。
过程：
1、先用画笔调一点黑色，画出鸡的眼睛，方中见圆，然后再眼睛的下面画出嘴，注意上面的厚，下面的薄一点，然后画出耳朵。
2、再换一只笔，调一些红色的颜色画出鸡冠及眼睛、耳朵周围和下面的囊。
3、接着继续画出鸡的颈部和身体，再画出漂亮的尾巴。上面的先画到这，然后画下面的那只。
4、同样我还是先从眼睛开始，（其实从哪里开始没有规定，只要你心中有大致的轮廓，你可以从任意部分开始画。只要最后很好结合起来就行。）然后画出身体，尾巴，还有脚。最后用淡淡的颜色点出地面。
两只大公鸡就完成了！

@helene nice painting, This reminds me of a short story i want to write about two cocks and their master hope you will see it when i post it. Here in Nigeria ancient indigenous people uses cock crow as a means of counting time but i don't think it will work this days because what we have now are more of mad cocks lol, sometimes they crow in the mid-night. @theheralds
haha, you are interesting! yes, now we don't depend on its crowing to know it's dawn.
And of cause we don't get up as early as the ancients.

被你说对啦，其实这个技法就是国画的写意画法。我只不过用水粉颜料来画的。。

從一個地方伸延出去的畫法我不行，要先勾一下範圍才放心。。。
我也把握不住，没看上面的那只脚都要没地方放了，呵呵。。
Great artwork. Chinese Painting technique. Very delicate and fluid. You have done a superb job with opaque water colour in Chinese painting technique which is very flowing and transparent. Not easy. And yes, I agree that "cocks" and Crows as muse for art are very beautiful and full of character . Upvoted and followed. I too am an artist.
