African Elephant In A Grassland (White Charcoal On Black Paper)
Hello Everyone.
Earlier today, I decided to make a wildlife drawing depicting an animal that requires a bit more detailing than wild cats. I decided to face my worst fears when it comes to wildlife art which is drawing of an elephant. Elephants are quite challenging to drawing because of their wrinkles and features for example, their trunk, tusk and the nature of their skin. I proceeded to making the drawing of an African elephant in a grassland using a white charcoal pencil on black cardboard paper. Due to the nature of the drawing, I used wildlife reference photograph that belongs to the wildlife artist and photographer, Richard Simmonds.
Here are the steps involved;
I began by making an outline sketch of the elephant.
Next, I began to draw and add details to the elephant starting from its eyes.
I kept shading and adding details of wrinkles to its skin until the drawing looked appealing.
Finally, I drew some grasses around the elephant to show its in a grassland.
Thank you for reading and checking out my drawing. Stay safe and enjoy the rest of your day.
