Have you heard about rubbing down?

사전을 찾아보면,
금석이나 기타 물체에 조각된 문자나 문양 등을 종이에 모인(摹印:옥새의 글자에 쓰이던 옛날 한문 전자 팔체의 하나)하는 일 또는 모인한 것.
이라고 나오는데요, 쉽게 풀어서 설명하자면
문화유적이나 비석같은 글자, 또는 문양이 새겨진 사물의 양각에 종이를 대고 이를 기록하는 것을 말합니다.

The work or collection of characters and patterns engraved on the gold stone or other objects (one of the three traditional Chinese characters used in the letters of Oksae) is performed on paper.

모두들 초등학교때 나무나 동전에 종이를 대고 색연필로 슥슥 그린 기억이 있을텐데요? 그것과 같은 겁니다!

저는 일상의 여러 질감들을 찾기 위해

화선지와 건탁먹을 준비했어요.

I bet everyone has a long memory of using colored pencils in elementary school with paper for wood or coins. It's like that!

I was trying to find the different textures of my daily routines.

We prepared a first-sighter and a builder.

이렇게 질감을 보고싶은 면에 종이를 고정시킨 후 , 동그란 건탁 먹으로 슥슥 문지르면 질감이 종이에 드러납니다!
After you attach the paper to the side of the screen where you want to see the texture, then rub it with a round, dry sticky brush to reveal the texture on the paper!

제 친구인데요, 같이 도로면의 맨홀을 본땄어요!
아무래도 바람이 많이 부는 날에는 야외에서 탁본 뜨는게 쉽지는 않네요.

이제 여러 사물들의 질감을 보여드리겠습니다!

이렇게 여러 질감들이 있는데요,

신기하게도 비슷한 나무, 벽면, 사물이여도 다 다른 질감을 가지고
손에 주는 필압에 따라 다른 형상이 나오더라고요.
탁본을 하면서 주변 사물들의 '질감'이라는 요소에 좀 더 집중해서 관찰할 수 있었던 것 같네요!

날이 풀리면 인사동이나 북촌에 가서 전통 문양들도 본떠봐야겠어요 :)

It has a lot of texture.

Strangely, all kinds of trees, walls and things have different textures.
I saw different shapes depending on the pressure you give me.
As I was working on the rubbing down, I could concentrate more on the " texture " of things around me!

When the days are clear, I'll go to Insa-dong or Bukchon and try to model the traditional patterns :)
Why don't you pay attention to the texture of your daily life? Haha
