New to Steemit!

Hello Steemit community! My name is Neal and I am an artist and human right activist. I am also trying to become more educated in cryptocurrencies, as I see it as an opportunity for the activist community to start transitioning away from harmful aspects of our social system.

In the art world, I am currently trying to establish myself an an Original Art Variant comic books cover artist. I will be doing my first ComiCon next month to display my work, sell prints, and take commissions.

I also am a freelance Photoshop professional, and do a lot of digital painting and design. When possible, I try to combine my interests as well to create imagery related to criticizing and improving our social system.

My passion for human rights began in about 2007/2008. I used to be a typical voter of whatever choices the establishment provided, and went along with the status quo mentality. But, the more I learned about our social system, the more I realized how harmful it is to humanity and our home planet. I started an online group called Common Ground Project.

The main premise of CGP when I created it back in 2011 was to unify all activists who have problems with the general structure of the establishment, and once unified, opt out of the establishment completely in order to pursue new social systems. Ive created a few spin off groups, like the Native First Peoples Project, and Hood/Rise Project – both of which would be the similar goal of unifying Native Reservations, and poor neighborhoods that are plagued with poverty and violence, and, and opting out of the system in order to recreate their own communities that actually work for them. I do see it as a piece meal project – it seems like Ill have to work with each group individually (activists, Native American communities, Hood communities) until I can get them to talk to each other. But, I think people are so sick of this system, they could be interested in ideas involving leaving this current system alone, and working with like minded individuals on building new models. And it doesn’t have to be one idea – I think multiple types of social systems could be exist in various regions. At the end of the day, the ones that are most rational will succeed, and the least rational will disappear. The point is to create the freedom for people to attempt to live in the manor that seems logical to them. You could see RBE, anarchist, sovereign, and other various ideas all being tried at once in different places. Then we could actually see which of these ideas could work, or not. If it can’t be put to the test, then we’ll never know.

So, as you can see, I have a lot of interests and a lot of work to do! I'm happy to be part of the next generation of social networking.
