Freelance Project - Imation marketing campaign
After registering and starting to participate on Steemit, I discovered that I rarely post any accompanying text or process info when I publish freelance projects. Steemit seems to be like the perfect place for that, so I'll try my best to post just that.
Imation Supervillains
The Sketch
The brief for this project was to design and illustrate 3 supervillains for an upcoming marketing campaign for Imation (You might know them for their storage products). I was given names and not much more: Deletus Maximus, Doctor Bloaticon and The Clog. So I began sketching and came up with these designs:
From the left, that's Deletus, Doc and The Clog.
Final Art
The client approved, and I then moved on to the final artwork. I was required to create 3 poses for each character. These were inked and colored in a program called Paint Tool Sai, which is a fantastic tool for inking, as they included some nice brush stabilization and smoothing tools. Check out some demo videos I made towards the bottom of this post:
Default Stance. Fairly straight forward, and this pose served as a model sheet of sorts for the additional poses.
Fighting Stance:
Knocked out pose:
For such an established company, it was really neat seeing them try something new. At one point they had Twitter accounts set up for each character. It was a fascinating campaign, and so glad I got be involved.
Oh, here's that Youtube video introducing Paint Tool Sai:
Amazing. Nice work.
And the idea of give a Twitter account for each character is original haha
