Crafts: Three for One! Knives (Karambit, Cleaver and Kitchen Knife)
Hello Steemians! I'm drawingwithflare!
I'm back and today, I show you not 1, not 2, but 3 miniature creations! They all revolve around 1 theme, which is Knives. So I made a Karambit Knife, A Butcher's Knife/ Cleaver, and a Kitchen Knife.
In this craft, I used 80cw sandpaper, glue and superglue, utility knife, vice, pencil and eraser, Black and Silver paint, clear nail polish, and of course the popsicle sticks.
So we will start with the karambit
So first, I made two popsicle bases (both are 2×2).
After that, I draw the karambit on the popsicle base.
And then, I roughly cut it out from the popsicle base so I can smoothly sand it later.
And then, I cut and sanded the excess using a Utility Knife and 80cw sandpaper. (Sorry for the quality of this picture, I accidentally deleted the picture with the better quality. Won't do it again)
Then, I made a hole where you're supposed to put your finger in. Unless your a jacked up rat on steroids then you can hold this karambit.
Then I sanded it so it would be thinner than handle.
And then, I did the same thing on the blade.
Then, I sharpened the blade.
And then, I painted the all the supposed metal parts black.
Then, I also painted the handle with a deep dark gray by adding a drop of white paint onto my black paint.
And then, I coloured the sharpened part of the blade with silver.
And that's it done!
This mini karambit is about a few centimetres less than 2 inch.
Then we move on to the Butcher's knife.
I started by making a popsicle base that is 3×2
Then I draw the blade and the handle separately on the base.
I cut them out in mini quadrilaterals to make them a little more accessible.
Then I used a utility knife and sandpaper to get the blade and handle in the perfect shape.
Then I made the connecting piece on the blade a little smaller so it would be easier to get some space out on the handle.
Then I made the notches on the handle. As you can see I separated them first so I can glue them with the hole in the middle.
I sanded the blade thin enough to look like a blade, and thick enough to be sturdy and not so fragile.
The I sharpened the blade.
Then I stained the handle with my brown paint.
I painted the blade silver after that.
Then I glued the handle to the blade.
I didn't just want this to be just the knife so I made a base for it which is a chopping board.
So I took three popsicle sticks, cut them in half, and glued them in a 3×2 popsicle base.
Then I cut a mini rectangle out of it.
I didn't want it to have sharpedges, so I cut the edges out.
Then I rounded them out using some low grade sandpaper.
Then I cut a small notch on the chopping board to make way for the knife.
Then I glued the knife onto the chopping board base I made.
And I used clear nail polish to get a smooth finish. And that's it done!
It's a little more than 2 inches in length and approximately 1 inch in height.
Then we go onto the Kitchen Knife. So I started by getting one popsicle base for the blade and two popsicles on top of one another for the handle.
Then I draw the blade and handle onto the popsicle bases.
Then I both cut them out of the bases.
Then I cut the notches for the connecting piece to go onto.
And then I sanded the blade as thin as I can without it breaking.
Then I glued the handles together.
After that, I sharpened the blade.
And I painted it with silver.
Then I stained the handle with brown paint mixed with a bit of water.
And then I glued them together finishing the knife.
But I'm not contented so I took five small popsicle pieces. Glued four of them by twos and cut the other one in half. I glued the half pieces nearly in the middle.
Then I cut a diagonal line on the bottom. I also made another piece the same as the two main pieces but with a cut in the middle that the blade can perfectly fit in.
So I glued the pieces.
Then I cut another diagonal on the smaller portion of the knife holder to act as a support and not dead weight.
And then I cut a small piece of a popsicle that will perfectly fit on the bottom of the knife holder as a smooth surface.
And then I used clear nail polish for a smooth finish on both knife and the holder.
And it perfectly fits!
The knife is 2.25 inch long and the holder is 1. 30 inch high.
So what do you think? Do you like this format with Three creation at once or the more consistent one per post? I will try to keep it like this but it won't be daily. And also sorry for the lack of content for nearly two weeks. I kinda just took a bit of a break from uploading so sorry about that. So yeah, see you on the next one, Ciao!
