Human sculpture carved out of ancient MAMMOTH TUSK
Progress pictures of carving a female human sculpture
So the following sculpture was the most complex project i did so far. As it was so complex it was still the most interest, enjoyable project.
The sculpture is my graduation piece for earning the master title in handcrafts. It took me in total 100 hours to make, which is a long time but its really worth it!
Progress shots
Carving the rough forms out of the original MAMMOTH TUSK piece. The first step when you carve a sculpture is to get the outlines right, othrewise you will get problems in the following steps...
Smoothing out the legs and the right arm. Gettig closer to the final outline forms
It was necessary to put on the left arm afterwards. Otherwise there would be too much waste of the material. Thats why i decided to add it afterwards.
So then after finding the outline form, i decided to get more into the details. As you see i started to carve the face. I started roughly scale out the parts of the face. Also i started to do the details of the rest of the body, which included the belly, breasts legs an the back.
At this point the sculpture itself was finished. After hours of sandpapering it, i started to make a pedastrian out of nutwood. In which i layed a small relief.
And that is how it acme out. It took me around 100 hours to finish. But like i said it was really worth it.
I hope you guys enjoy it as much as i do!
Stay blessed and much love,
your MAMMOTH MAN
