I tried not being an artist – it did not work for me

This is a self portrait (acrylic paint on wood panel, 60x80cm)

At the same time it deconstructs me
as 'one who tries to be something'
and constructs me as 'one who is'.

I'm sure that many fine people succeed in not being artists.
I just couldn't do it.
