Art 93: Beautiful Eyes on Colored Pencils
-Christian Yocte
I still cannot believe that I received a good recognition from my previous artwork. Being curated by different amazing communities is such a great honor and priviledge. It motivates and inspires me to create and share more. Now, here’s my 93rd artwork which I think one of my best creations ever. I humbly present to you this...

Drawing Process
Now let me share to you the lengthy drawing process. Yes, it was a long tiring journey that took me more than five hours, but it was all worth it.
First, I draw the outline of the subject using an ordinary pencil. I didn’t apply so much pressure on it that is why the picture seems blank. In this step, proportion and shape are the most important factors because if we dont have accuracy of the proportion and shape we will surely have a problem with the final outcome.
After having the initial sketch of the outline, I grabbed my color pencils and look for the colors that I would use. Again, I used Prismacolor Pencils for this art. The goal for this step was to create the upper-right part of the hood. I started on that section since I am a right-handed person and I want to avoid touching the colored sections as much as possible.
Then, I started working on the hair and the right-half of the uncovered face. In doing the skintone, I selected and used first the lighter shade before working on the dark shades of the face.
Then, I started working on the second-half of the hood and some parts of the hair. This is how it looks before adding the black color which gives a realistic picture of the artwork.
After the initial coloring of the second-half of the hood, I added black color. Then blend it with the red and orange to create a realistic picture.
Then, I added a highlight color for the hair which is a lavender. It give a beautiful effect on the hair. Also, I made adjustments with the current image including the completion of the last part of the hair.
After that, I finished the last part of the hood. I hope you dont mind the disorganized colorpencils beside the sketchpad.
Then, I started working on the bottom-left part of the drawing . I used the same colors in the hood however, there are plenty dark (black) parts than those on the upper part simply because the light seem to be on top of subject.
Then, I continued by drawing and coloring the hands of subject. I used skintone colors to make the hands appear realistic.
Then, I continued drawing the other hand. And some parts of the clothing.
Then, I finished the last part of the clothing and made final corrections and adjustments in the whole drawing.
Finally, here’s the final output! Enjoy!

Hi there, I think the name is absolutely perfect. Those eyes are amazing. But then so is the rest of the piece. Many years ago I use to draw a little bit. I never did quite get the knack of doing hands. The ones you did look so natural.
Thanks so much for sharing the whole process in such detail. The step by step pictures along the way are one of the things I enjoy most when I read art blogs. It was really nice of you to share with us.

I don't say to much because I don't want to give any appearance of bias. and usually give a generic response. but just so that you know your post is not judged alone but combined with the other featured posts that were presented for a combined score.
If during my course I see something or a way to get anyone more exposier I will do it. It is all about growing the community.
You are right to think that you are a winner for being featured. I agree with that 100%
PIFC has been able to give out awards to all entries in the contest because of our supporters. This is a claim that I have not seen in any contest here so far. One that we are proud of.

Thank you!
Fantastic drawing with colored pencils! This young woman’s eyes are so beautiful and the folds in material are colored so well to show depth with excellent shading and shadows. Hands are hard to draw, and yours are wonderfully done @christianyocte. I can see why you call this drawing one of your favorites, it’s mine as well. And absolutely the extra time added, really paid off friend❣️ Blessings
