New nation??? No...Sabah is already a independent country before joining malaya@malaysia..
Sabah already got their independence from the British.Sabah also known North Borneo.
Had own currency ..North Borneo Dollar..
Sabah have oil,timber and Mount Kinabalu..
But...back then malaya(before known as malaysia) want to reform malaysia with Sabah,Sarawak and Singapore..but not long after the coalition been done...Singapore left ..
Sabah was supposed to be next but before all the minister of Sabah could make their move..their plane were bombed...all the minister that oppose the coalition killed...then Sabah was left with a few greddy minister,got loads of land here in sabah...sell Labuan island(Labuan rich of oil,until now) to malaysian gov with royalty of 0.4..
All Sabah oil and timber been sucked by the Malaysian gov..before this...peninsular have nothing...nothing at all..
From a nation to state..and been named the poorest state in malaysia.
From Dollar to Ringgit..
