Virtual Sketchbook # 5: Watercolour Paintings (After J.M.W Turner)
Hi fellow steemers
Today I am sharing a few watercolour studies I have made this year. These studies were done in my little home studio and were aimed at increasing my skill level by copying other artists while also just experimenting with different techniques.
Castle on the Hill, After J.M.W Turner, watercolour on paper, 2017
J.M.W Tuner was a master of watercolour painting and during his early career he was also an instructor in the medium and would encourage his pupils to copy from master practitioners, including his own works.
Rain on the Water After J.M.W Turner, watercolour on paper, 2017
This watercolour illustrates the technique of pulling the paint down across the picture with a finger in order to imitate rain falling from a cloud.
An Imaginary Sunset, watercolour on paper, 2017
This study was a little experiment in coloring and gradating the sky colour by using a wet into wet technique.
