My process in portrait painting #3
I hope I'll know when to stop painting so it don't get over done. I try so hard to underpaint and ends up covered with new paint. I save extra paint in foil to use later. I try to write down cell numbers as I go. Purple seems the worst, it cracks when dried. Must be made in china. I try to use one size brush. Painting is risky business. The first coats of paint are like painting on a driveway. You can hear it file down your brush. With the background already down, I'll need to be more careful painting like slow down a bit. The painting is getting sticky when dried overnight. it's like painting on the sticky side of tape. If the viewer knew the person in the painting, then that person will understand the brushstrokes. some cameras don't take pictures of faces well and ends up flat. I have to work with it in affinity photo like using curves. When you add contrast in the midtones, you make other areas flat like shadows or highlights. let's thank my wife for not minding the smell of oils. Please note that a famous artist's homes smells like oil.
wow!! :)
