The White Palace of Chiang Rai "Wat Rong Khun".

In the city of Chiang Rai, in the far north of Thailand, there is a temple that for many is the representation of the sky: The Wat Rong Khun or better known as the white temple.

This White Temple, also known as the Wat Rong Khun, is due to the architect Chalermchai Kositpipat, and its construction began in 1997. Those who have visited it can not overlook certain similarities with the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, since both continue under construction , and they capture more attention than works that could be considered more complete, at least, finished, appearing both in all kinds of travel guides. This makes them turn into the eyes of visitors in obligatory visits, what in fashion is known as "must". As the Black House, the White Temple consists of several buildings, and many decorative elements, and the completion of the set is scheduled for 2070. So it is not expected that the architect see with his own eyes the finished work.

The temple possesses a series of characteristics that increase its meaning as a work, since white becomes the purity of the Buddha; the bridge to the temple refers to the bridge that Buddha crossed when he preached dogma for the first time; and the suffering under the same idea that in order to arrive at good, suffering is necessary. Semicircles represent humanity and animals painted as the elephant, the naga, the swan or the lion are the four elements that would be the world, water, wind and fire. Like all the History of Art, this building is full of symbols and elements that enrich its meaning.
