It is great to have you here Jon! I just wish I could some day meet you in person - I've known you on the internet for ages already. Perhaps you find a venue in the EU to present your collection and put a show together. I have several connections here that could possibly be of interest - and maybe check out @libaws (she is idling on steemit at the moment), her experience in promoting and organizing exhibitions here (and internationally) is invaluable. @reinhard-schmid is the curator in Viechtach, Bavaria of the Alte Rathaus, a place that consistently shows "our" kind of art every year. There are others, such as the Bator Gallery in Poland who put together the Magical Dreams IV traveling show were Peter and I are currently shown.
Jon, why not do it in the form of a small drawing show? Recently I just sent 2 pieces to Don Farrell in Seattle, in an envelope (as a letter, A4 size), and ordered frames from Dick Blick art supplies to have them shipped to him. He framed my work and it is currently showing in Seattle. Should I want them back, he can return them the same way and keep the frames for his trouble, but likely I will keep them at his place there for future shows in the US. He had shown 3 other works of mine before already. Miguel Tio in New York has several of my pieces as well which he puts into shows whenever he shows his stuff (usually with AOI in New York and Montreal).
When I was assistant curator at the UofL Art Gallery in Canada, we imported a show of Surrealist drawings from Spain, which was a small parcel that arrived under the radar of customs, and we, as a gallery, had a whole bunch of quick-change aluminum frames just for such occasions (most public galleries in Canada do - sort of like a standard). I framed that show within an afternoon.
And you should know that for the "Exquisite Corpse" cooperative works we send stuff back and forth all over the world in envelopes all the time. The postage for a medium size (letter size) envelope is minimal - and: NO CUSTOMS!
As far as I remember, when I shipped my drawing to you (way back when) from Canada, in a tube, it didn't cost that much either, and if the value given is not astronomical, customs does not even bother with it (like: under $ 300.- or so). But envelope is the best, because you don't have to "cheat".
I knew if I could persuade you to join Steemit, you would enjoy it, plus heaps of Steemers would enjoy your content, so it was a win win for every one. I am very pleased to see you are applying your usual gusto to the platform and posting regularly. I think you will go far on this platform. =)
It's funny because the reason I'm here is because I follow Peter Gric on FB and saw his post about Steemit. Was sceptical and I don't know much about crypto but got tired of Facebook. At first I thought here we go again another platform I probably will neglect but I have to say it's really motivating and a lot of nice people. So now I'm pretty active here and see a bright future. I know your art from long time ago on Deviant Art and FB and really happy you joined on Steemit. The more amazing artists the better :)
Are you already familiar with the discord app? A lot of steemit groups on there which helps even more.
Thank you for mentioning my name, I feel honored and happy I could support :D
That could be possible I have been on DA for like 12 years and most of the art you promote I love or already was following. I have been active for a while in the Exquisite Corpse group on DA. Yeah for me too but I can remember the books you published and the promotions on the surreal group. :)
Well, you keep good company, I adore @gric@leoplaw and Otto. I am so glad you decided to join us here. I am always amazed and thankful for the artist community on here. I have all but left facebook, although I know I am meant to keep posting there, but it is hard when one looks forward to coming to steemit each morning, but dreads opening facebook.
I am honoured that you mentioned me and am happy to be amongst the lot of you, getting a chance to see your wonderful works and commenting and sharing. I really do feel as if we have a sort of artist salon here that we are a steemit milieu and I love it. Welcome again!
Were are happy having you here Jon! You are a major beacon in the fantastic/figurative art community since the early days of the Internet and your presence here on Steemit will encourage many artists to leave the declining feudalistic social networks!
This post is also a testament to the fact that there is tremendous content on steemit if you know where to look. How often do you have shows in the LA area I would run there so fast?

I keep running into your gallery name when googling my favorite artists. And you said you curated shows at the Copra Gallery? I love that place.
