BEASTLY TALES

A SUPPORTING ACTOR?

“Widder woman Jones, she got a rovin’ eye.”
“She had it, in fact, a ‘fore her husband did die”
“She fancied Hector, who ran the General Store,”
“And she fancied his boy, Wilbur, what is more!”
“Now Wilbur, as I’m sure you did know,”
“Yes, Wilbur, was more than a little thick, and slow.”

“He’d go to Miz Jones with flowers in his hand,”
“Cemetery flowers, tawdry, not grand.”
“When he did come in to town,”
“He passed through the cemetery with a sour frown,”
“Until he spotted some fresh placed flowers,”
“He’d keep a’looking and a’waiting, even for hours.”
“He’d go to where Miz Jones worked, in the Tortilla Diner,”
“Bliss, meeting Miz Jones, just nothing finer!”
“Mr Jones, so much older than her,”
“Ignored impropriety notions that folk did infer.”
“He worked at the Saw Mill, until he was dead,”
“In fact, it was at the Saw Mill, that he sawed off his head!”

“A great “to do”, all over town,”
“When news of the accident trickled down.”
“Miz Jones, now she was a widder,”
“Had many weighty problems to consider.”
“Like, who she might take up with, to support her, like”
“Would it be Hector, or that Wilbur tyke?”
