Wotan, oil on linen portrait sketch + VIDEO
Hello Steemians!! Despite crypto going down and bitcoin bleeding heavily on the markets last few weeks this platform is full of life and creative content and I really like it. For me Steemit is one of the best cryptocurrency related products so far. Although my post is not about it, my post is about joy of alla prima portrait painting (surprise!!)
Today I'd like to share with you sketch of marvelous John A Carrasco, I called it "Wotan". It is done in one session, 3 hrs approx., oil on linen, 30x40 cm. If you like to see my process - I've uploaded video on D-tube
Hope you like it, guys!
No question. I like your portrait. Somehow it attracts me, and somhow it scares me. For sure, it is a skilled sketch.
Wow. I've been wanting to see how it builds, so this video is a real treat.
The haunting way the face smokes away on the periphery is lovely. Is that by choice or default? Just out of interest.
it's very traditional to use atmospheric perspective to enforce illusion of dimensionality so I would say it's by choice and default at the same time :)
Interesting answer. Thanks!

Such a penetrating gaze ~ Love the way just the one eye can be seen and the other suggested. Hard to believe that you could have painted this beautiful portrait in only 3 hours. ♥︎♥︎⚖️♥︎♥︎
An amazing alla prima painting, Arthur :D You always brings out such beautiful skin tone in your portrait pictures <3
