Fake Beauty, Real Lines – Portrait Over an American Apparel Ad
Ten years ago I drew this portrait directly over an American Apparel magazine ad.
Back then those glossy pages were everywhere—selling sex perfection and a filtered version of beauty.
I wanted to break through that surface.
So I did.
No pencil no plan just white ink flowing with instinct. Every line slices through the fake and reaches for something human.
Not a model
Not a trend
Just a face
Drawn from feeling not fashion.
This is what happens when you take back the page.
