Hello Steemians
This is my first experiment on the "Steemit Chronicles Mysterious Character " by @anritco.
The link to the contest is shown below:
https://steemit.com/beyondbitcoin/@anritco/beyondbit-bounties-steemit-chronicles-mysterious-character-needed-rewards-worth-up-to-500-sbd
I was really excited by the idea as the contest required a design of a Steemit Chronicles Character
The following guidelines were stated in @anritco's post:
- Our character is not necessarily a human, but it's humanoid.
- It has to give the feeling of an ethereal entity, but in this 3-Dimension world we are walking through.
- I don t want to spoil anything here, but this entity must be a guide for us. So it shouldn't be within a dark spirit, but a spirit of joy and wisdom.
- Must have a hood, its face shall be not visible.
When I read the guidelines for the character, I find it interesting yet slightly challenging because the character needs to be a "spirit of joy and wisdom" but "must have a hood and its face shall not be visible".
In general, a criteria of "must have a hood and its face shall not be visible" would generally make the character mysterious as their identity is "hidden" and hence it may be slightly challenging to balance that with a "spirit of joy and wisdom".
Nonetheless it was an interesting combination and below is my attempt. I call the character "The Eternal Guide"
also known as "The Guide"
NAME: The Eternal Guide (The Guide)
>
LEVEL: ???
AGE: ???
STATS:
HP: ???
MP: ???
DESCRIPTION
"The Guide" is a very mysterious being and seems like a being that doesn't belong to this world, no one knows where "The Guide" came from or whether "The Guide" is a human, humanoid or cyborg as "The Guide" always wears a hood with a cloak and doesn't reveal its face.
Besides from the cloak, the most notable feature of the "The Guide" is the mysterious symbol shown on the back of his cloak. Some see it as the number "31" which may mean that it is 31 years old? the 31st experiment? or the 31st creation, but no one knows the creator.
Coincidentally, the symbol which looks like the number "31" is also the Chinese character:
"引"
which means "To Guide, or to Lead", and people thought that perhaps that is where its name comes from, but no one is entirely sure.
The area around the symbol will always shine brightly not matter when, and that is how "The Guide" can guide people even in both darkness and light.
EQUIPMENTS
"The Guide" holds two swords being the "sword of Joy" and the "sword of Wisdom". During depressed and bad times "The Guide" will raise the "sword of Joy" to bring Joy to the people. During miserable times and when people are lost "The Guide" will raise the "sword of Wisdom" to bring wisdom, knowledge and hope to people.
When "The Guide" is in a battle and has no other choice, "The Guide" then make use of the magic Staff to create extremely powerful defensive and destruction magic.
"The Guide" is able to open up a mini map any time, and is able to spot any enemies or obstructions that may occur in the path to the destination.
DIET
No one has even seen "The Guide" taking off the mask or the hood and hence have not seen "The Guide" eating.
It is a belief that the green plates on "The Guide's" shoulders are able to absorb energy from sunlight and that is how "The Guide" manages to survive and restore energy.
(Similar to how plants get energy through the process of photosynthesis)
OTHER
There is also a blue bird known as the "Steem Bird" that follows "The Guide" and is thought to be "The Guide's" pet and companion.
There are many unknowns with regards to "The Guide", but one thing for sure is that "The Guide" is not a being that enjoys battle and avoids it unless it is necessary, and if "The Guide" is your guide, you will not get lost but actually have a positive attitude and gain tremendous knowledge and wisdom throughout your journey and reach your destination quicker than expected.
Below are some Close-Ups of the drawing:
Tried to incorporate my username tag into the mini map
The number "31" or the Chinese character "引" for "To Guide or Lead"
The "Steem Bird"
The Arm and Armour
Below are some drawings used in the initial thought process
I began with some initial rough sketches of what the character would look like based on the guidelines
These are drawings of the back view and some ideas on the hood and the face
Some sketches on how the arm would look like and the weapons that the character would be using
Once I had these rough ideas in place, I began the sketch in pencil...
See below the progress of the drawing:
As the Guidelines state that the character is a guide, a thought was that the character should be able to bring up a map to "Guide" people, hence the screen or mini-map.
The initial pencil sketch is almost complete and this is where I start using color pencils
The initial coloring process is completed and I will perform some editing on the computer
Given that the character is a "Guide", I thought a star symbol would be suitable as people can generally use stars to help them reach their destination
Then I tried to incorporate lines to depict the flow of energy surrounding "The Guide". I chose colors which I think represents joy and wisdom
And this it:
Hope it came out okay.
The designing process is fun and exciting and I look forward to the next opportunity.

Waw !!! It's a fascinating painting, I love it very much.
I think that time you can make a picture story like KOMIK.
Have a good day, do not forget me when you succeed here, hehehe !!!
I have followed you @apprentice001!!!
Thank you very much @foways! I really appreciate your support. Glad you like it. Have followed you back and look forward to your future posts! Have an Awesome day!
Good job and very motivated!! I like the different details you made obviously with love :-)
@apprentice001 I also wanted to ask if you allow me to write you via the chat, because I would have one info-question?? Thanks, Martin
Thanks @art-universe for your kind words and support! I enjoyed the process of creating the character design. It took a lot of time but I had fun. What chat are you referring to? if you have a info-question, you are more than welcome to ask it in the comments section and I will try my best to respond. Have a awesome day!
Hey @apprentice001 - well ok, but it is a little bit embarassing for me... Actually I wanted to ask how this works with Curie... I didn't get it and I would be so happy to get a nice upvote. It is a little bit frustrating for me, when I work 2 hours for a post and get 1 $ like I got with my Mischtechnique posts. So I wanted to ask how you did this. Sorry if I bother you in any way. Thank you and you too :-)
No stress @art-universe, you can ask more questions if you want and I hope that I can answer some of your questions. I think the main question you are asking is why some posts that you spend a lot of time and effort on, are not getting the attention that you expected. I am quite new to Steemit (just over a month) so there is still a lot that I need to learn about Steemit and areas that I need to improve on. I mainly create drawing posts because I enjoy drawing, and I spend several hours, sometimes days to create a drawing. However, if you look at the payouts you will see some of my drawings have low payouts. So not all my posts are getting a lot of attention and I think that you should try not to focus too much attention on the payouts. I understand your feeling that you spend a lot of effort on a post and you may feel slightly disappointed with the attention. That is why I recommend you not to focus too much on the payouts and just keep posting content that you think will be interesting and valuable to other Steemians. Sooner or later if you continue to post content that other Steemians find valuable, then you will be amazed with the support from the Steemit Community. So do keep posting and have a Positive Attitude. Steem on! I am quite new to Steemit so I hope that answers your questions. Let me know if you have more questions. Thanks and have a great day!
this is a very good insight about how works the Steemit community and yes I spent a lot of hours making good posts about graphics design and useful tools for the community expecting someone to like it and actually realy read all the content. It's has been a lot of frustration since I started but hey! I'm getting followers and people to make happy! for this you have to keep working to sustain what you have earned because it is not supposed to be easy.
Have fun and do what you like!
