RGB Skulls - a 12"x12" painting
New painting!
"ssskkkuuullllll"
12"x12"
Acrylic on Canvas
I got a commission the other day to recreate a painting I had made last year:
This painting was a ton of fun to make. It is simple enough, basically just two overlapping skulls, but it was deceptive in simplicity because once this thing got going it was pretty difficult to focus on which skull was which. Especially with the completed painting there was a very unnerving effect created by the two being so close together.
The commission I got was to recreate this original painting, but to do it in Red/Green/Blue. So, to get started I made sure to draw and paint each skull one at a time. I started with the center skull in one color, then the next in red, and the final in blue. This made it much easier to follow along and keep my focus on which was which.
Once I got the basics down I started to refine them more and bridge the gaps in color.
Looking good! Now that I had the basics down I decided to add some things to the background to make the overall piece more interesting and giving the skulls a place to live instead of just floating around.
Pretty happy with the final piece. I think I'm going to polish it up a little bit more, but I think it gets the point across.
Very cool piece of work. Absolutely stunning. I definitely like that "you gave the skulls a place to live". I found you through the #payitforward contest. You were featured by @iexplore. Congratulations and best wishes.
Oh I love this one! I would so buy this for my mom, she just got pretty heavy into sugar skulls but she would love this. You did a great job. I don't think that I would be able to focus and paint this one. Its pretty trippy but super cool.
Hi you! :) He is very talented!
Hey Bee :) Yes he is!
I was pretty heavy into painting skulls in general for awhile. Would try to make as many as I could in a short time period that they eventually started overlapping. They're so fun to paint.
That's super cool. Very great job!
This painting is really bad ass! I'm not really into skulls too much, but this painting was very captivating! Good work my friend and your other work is awesome too!
I agree with @beeyou a time-lapse video would be epic!
I have featured you in my #payitforward post this week. You can check it out HERE
I found this post from @iexplore contest entry. Very cool artwork!
Thanks for the support! I definitely appreciate it.
Beautiful post, I've included it in my weekly curation Ocean of Art!
That's awesome of you! Thanks :)
This is the coolest skull I've ever seen. Awesome art! I found this through @iexplore's curation post :)
Thanks!
Bam~!!
Your art is cool man, you deserve an upvote and follow :)
Hi @andrewdavisart. You are very talented! I came across you because @magicalmoonlight highlighted you on our @newbieresteemday account with your introduction. I hope you continue sharing your artwork with us.
Time-lapse videos are also popular on here, if you ever want to record yourself painting. Or even include more of the process work with some of your thoughts and comments.
Hope to see more!
Thank you! That's some good advice with the time lapse. I try to take prices shoes regularly, but sometimes I'll get sucked into working and forget all about it. I'll have to give it a shot.
Definitely give time-lapse a try. It will be worth your time. If you do come out with a video, might I suggest you learn about DTube and try to post there with the time lapse? Think of DTube as a sister/brother to Steemit but they support videos on there. DTube will try to support the videos that are posted there.
Reach out to myself, @magicalmoonlight, or @davemccoy if you have any questions. We all try to help with what we can.
I'm sure you let your talents carry you away when you're in the moment. :)
I'll have to check that out. Thank you for the advice.
No problem. Have a great day!
