A cubic Iris
A group of heavy weight paper cubes, joined together through corners. I also added a mechanism in the center cube to control the four corners and thus give more control over weight. This is a mathematical application for the parallel lines or surfaces theory. no matter how much a square’s or cube’s angle are changed, opposite surfaces will stay in parallel. I wanted to explore the concept of openness and transparency using moving shapes instead of traditional transparent materials. You can see iris, pixels, elastic pattern, or simply bright squares appearing within the dark negative space governed by golden cosmic lines and shapes.
