“Garden of Eden” Mural from start to finish
A few weeks ago I decided I needed to paint a mural in my dining room. I’m pretty big into Feng Shui and this particular wall is in the Love & Relationship portion of my home. The last year has seen this corner stockpiled with excessive books and items from the house that had yet to find a home and was generally left mussed and out of sorts.
Feeling many of my personal relationships sour over the past few months, I took it upon myself to work some Feng Shui magic and make some pretty little improvements to my home.
This is what the room looked like before I began.
A blank canvas.
The first strike.
I did not have a clear vision when I started. Nor did I make any sketches. When I paint, I do so fearlessly. I do not fear mistakes. Every “mistake” is an opportunity for creative advancement. But I trust my hand and I trust my eye. I didn’t know exactly where I was going, nor was I sure how to get there but I needed to paint this damn wall.
The tree trunk is filled in.
Most of the paint I used was housepaint from the “reject” section at Miller paint. There I would often find quarts of paint for $1.25 USD or a gallon for $5 USD. Asking for samples you can usually get a quart of an exact color for $5 USD. These are way better prices than the craft and art supply stores.
The tree is filling out.
I wanted the tree trunk to be colorful and evoke feelings of love and beauty.
I basically destroyed my dinning room to make this mural. After reaching a certain point, I just kind of ran out of inspiration and let the whole house rest in a state of chaos for more than a few days.
After a few days of marinating, I went for a 90 minute float in a sensory deprivation tank. While I was floating I saw a violet horizon with backlit trees and animals on the horizon. I saw alien spaceships and I saw orange and purple vaginal fruit with Swarovski crystals for clitorises. After my float I rushed to the craft store to procure some Swarovski crystals. I was a woman on a mission now.
I’d still like to add some stars and things to the horizon but this is where I am at now.
Great mural. You did an amazing job and looks so much better than before! Do more 😉😍❤️🦋🌈🌴💛🍀
