Lucanus Cervus sculpture, different versions
As promised in the last post (https://steemit.com/art/@alain-bellino/lucanus-cervus-bronze-sculpture-limited-edition-en-en), here are the different versions of the Lucanus Cervus.
There are two finishes (gold and silver) and two different boxes (white and black)
The goldish ones are nice also.
I wonder if it was possible to have more than one color applied on one object. When I then worked with metals I used the colors of heat appearing on iron surfaces. Finishing them with hard wax balm ( auro ).
Thanks. Yes it's possible but more difficult with metal plating. It's necessary to put a special varnish to protect places you don't want to plate. If you do that on gold for example you can add silver or copper places.
I think we all know that the hard part in creating art is to bring people to meaningful actions...I wish you good luck with this.
(nevertheless I would consider to have a box made by a professional box-maker to give Lucanus the luxury habitat that he deserves...
Thanks for your comment Werner. The boxes are coming from a professional box maker for entomologists here in France.
...hahaha, I like that... but consider if you want to sell your art to entomologist or to people used to shop at Cartier...but don't take this wrong.... It was just a remark from my anterior life in advertising.
I do not take it badly, on the contrary I always appreciate constructive criticism, the only ones that have a chance to be true. Compliments can be too sometimes but it's less likely :-)
This sculpture is a limited edition that I try to produce at a "low" cost and it is not possible for this reason to make the boxes entirely. I also found that the result "in real life" was interesting. The photos often highlight faults that the eye does not judge in the same way by looking at the real piece. I was even surprised by making the photos of this object. It is only to avoid glare From the glass I tilted the sculpture and suddenly the grazing light accentuates the overthickness of the box.
Thanks for your return ;-)
This reminds me a lot of movies like the mummy
The golden one has a very royal look to it <3 specially against the black box <3 Beautiful work !
Thanks a lot veryspider!
