Top 5 Artists On Instagram #2
It’s been a while since I last shared some artists from Instagram who have been great inspiration to me. Instagram is like an infinite pool of talented creatives and as there is always someone waiting to be explored. I have come across some fantastic artists working in different medias over these past few months whose artistic styles are definitely worth looking at.
1. Salmonella_fish
One artist who knocked my socks off was salmonella_fish. I remember mentioning the art of heikala in my previous list whom I follow because she makes remarkably gorgeous anime style illustrations. Somehow I ended up discovering this account and her paintings had that softness and warmth which just makes you feel good, you know. She draws inspiration from certain characters which I am not familiar with on any level but have seen her talking about in Insta live sessions. I have a certain weakness for artworks traditional/digital which have a luminous quality in them, it’s like a moth to a flame situation lol
2. mimma_art
The winner of the Portrait artist of the year 2018, captured my attention instantly when I had just started watching the episodes. Her confidence and uniqueness of brush work applied on portraits (which have always been one of my favorite areas of study) is something that cannot go unnoticed. The portrait of Kim Cattrall made by her after winning the show has been added to the permanent collection at the Walker Art Gallery.
3. Criscoart
I am generally on the look out for watercolorists, artists working with gouache, oil, pastels, etc but this artist’s work is something unpredictable and magical. I think I first saw a painting from stranger things and I couldn’t wrap my head around the colors he was using. But once the piece was out of daylight, what I saw was mesmerizing! The use his own mix of glow paint is pure art even when contained in the bottles. See for yourself!
4. 1canoe2
I love me some doses of pretty stationery item frequently and that’s why I have subscribed to channels like Jet Pens on youtube. :P I mean I don’t know a single artist who isn’t fascinated by the bizzaring range of art supplies in today’s day and age. The first thing that I loved about them were the gouache illustrations and color palettes. This page has some of the best paintings and concepts in gouache & is the first place I go to when I am in dire need of inspiration. Not only that, the artworks are available in the form of prints, sketchbook covers, planners, calendars, puzzles, etc too!
5. Tenhun
Over the past few years, murals and wall arts have been one of the best explorations for me outside of my sketchbooks and sheets. I was recently having a conversation with someone about the same and while hunting for some sensei’s, I found ten hundred. For those of you have seen my work for sometime, you might know that I love colors when they are used in lighter shades with limited color range. But ten hundreds murals are exactly the opposite including even neon colors at times. I learned so much from his videos aimed towards helping beginners on their own journey in murals.
