RE: An Attempt with Acrylic Paints
Working with a limited palette is great for improving skills and creativity - for years i only used crimson, ultramarine, emerald, lemon yellow, burnt umber and titanium white (6 colours) - just because of a lack of cash. I learnt to mix all the colours i needed from those and they're still my core tubes lol.
Oh wow that's so cool!!! I feel like that must have been a big factor in shaping your skills as an artist!
I picked up a set the other day, so I guess I'll be living it up for a while with all the colours!! LoL
I have found that i seem to have learnt the most when i have fewer materials at my disposal - like when i'm sketching outside and i can only take a few items. It forces you to improvise and experiment - i tend to get lazier if i have all the stuff i need as i don't have to think as much about what i'm doing - does that make sense?
It totally makes sense!! I've had that happen to me as well :)
