''THE RAVEN''_aquarelle
Since the ancient times, the ravens have been present as a symbol in mythology, literature, local and traditional folklore, and of course in modern time too, they are present in movies, novels, etc. but associated with a very bad reputation.
However, for me, it is only a majestic bird that I know is monogamous, very intelligent, and who reaches enviable ages. It is very flexible and adapts easily to the environment in which it lives and is opportunistic. As you see this last character trait is not only common to people. ;)
What is interesting is that the studies in which the ravens were involved showed that they are very playful and able to show empathy to each other.
The anatomy and the imposing presence of this bird convinced me to draw it, so that's what it came out of.

For my drawing I used as a reference an incredible photo shot taken by wildlife photographer Marcel Huijser
Watercolor is very pretentious as technique and you can ruin a drawing at the end in an irremediable way. I was very close.

Your skills are awesome. That eye is so perfect. I think if the detail that gives life to the draw.
Cheers.
Thank you and yes, you are perfectly right! Eyes are so important because they capture the attention with what they transmit.
Beautiful, majestic, keen and mysterious. You captured the essence of Raven
That's was my intention! :) Thank you so much!
welcome :)
Beautiful! I like the softer chest/belly feathers, and the more defined wing feathers.
I've been tossing around the idea of doing a raven watercolor as well, for my daughter. She loves crows and ravens, and her name came from the poem by Edgar Allan Poe, so I want to give her raven everything. lol
Wow! Very interesting! Thanks for sharing this with me about your girl! Unconditional love is so beautiful! I have to say that couple days ago I first red the Allan Poe's poem and is very profound. ;)
Very cool artwork!
Thanks a lot! :)
