What is Arduino ?
The "Arduino" project was initiated by a group of teachers and students from a school of Italian design in 2004 - 2005. This is an open source development and prototyping platform.
in other words, it is a small programmable electronic card and a multiplatform software, which can be accessible to everyone for the purpose of easily creating electronic systems.
Given that there are beginners among us, let's start by seeing a little common vocabulary specific to the field of electronics and computers.
Use:
The role of the Arduino board is to store a program and make it work.
With Arduino, we will begin by learning to program and then use electronic components. In the end, we will be able to create more or less complex electronic systems. But that's not all…
Shields with various functions that pop up on the Arduino board:
- item3Control household appliances.
- Give an "intelligence" to a robot.
- Make lights.
- Allow a computer to communicate with an electronic card and different sensors.
- Remote control of a mobile device (model making).
- Relay, motor control, SD card reader, ...
- Ethernet, WIFI, GSM, GPS, ...
- LCD displays, TFT display, ...
Arduino users are:
- Many of whom have very limited knowledge of electronics;
- Artists who need to animate or interact with their works;
- Atudents and students;
Types of cards:
- These "official", which are manufactured in Italy by the official manufacturer: Smart Projects.
- These "compatible", which are not manufactured by Smart Projects, but are fully compatible with the official Arduino.
- The "others", manufactured by various companies and marketed under a different name (Freeduino, Seeduino, Femtoduino, ...).
