St. Alphonsus Catholic Church
My 'City Kids' are convinced that they are far too busy to have their own Steem page, so here is our compromise. They will supply occasional photos, and I will post for them. They do like checking in to read your comments, and maybe this will eventually lead to them having their own blog.

St. Alphonsus Catholic Church is in the Lake View neighborhood of Chicago and was built in the late 1800's at a cost of $100,000.
My City Kids stopped in recently for a tour while they were out for a walk. 
The church was built by the German immigrant community and still holds one mass each month in German.

Did you know that the pipes your see up there by the organ. Those are fake, the real pipes are usually wrapped all around the back and sides of the buidling. They are too big to even present. Amazing photos.

This is so beautiful for such an ancient building. Totally love it. Wow. I love the maintenance culture there. They really need to get on Steemit. I hope this encourages them. I love your love for simple yet exquisite things.

Great photos and what an amazing church
You just cannot compare yesteryears architecture to today's building. This is exquisite, Melinda, with the gorgeous detail in the ceilings and those incredible stained glass windows.
Oh, if those walls could talk. All in German, of course.
