Balinese water temple

Pura Bratan is a temple complex on Lake Bratan in Bali, Indonesia. Built in 1633, this temple is used for offerings ceremony to the Balinese water, lake and river goddess Dewi Danu, due to the importance of Lake Bratan as a main source of irrigation in central Bali. The lake is situated at 1,200m and the climate in the area is so much cooler than the rest of the island. Barely any tourists make it all the way up here, so it's a wonderful opportunity to experience a real and authentic Balinese village.

Beautiful. I went there many years ago when I was 17 . Will have to go back one day.

I would have loved to experience Bali pre-Eat, Pray, Love popularity. Although, I am very happy to have randomly stumbled on quite a few remote villages in the center and east that have remained rather unspoiled.
