Collaborative, First-Hand, Open & Participatory Films: Our Approach to Exhaustive Documentation of Ancient Cultures
At Sukhnidhey Films, our films have taken a different approach from conventional documentaries.
Our films document ancient sites and cultures and are more collaborative and participatory in nature as against the "closed" nature of most films we see today that leave little scope for bidirectional information flow.
As much as a film needs to talk to the viewer, the viewer needs to talk to the film and more importantly, the subject depicted. Only then does a film leave room for interpretations and discussions. This latter aspect often goes unnoticed, though, especially in documentary films.
Our films encourage the viewers to participate in the on-screen exploration, first-hand, and experience history as they see it with their very own eyes. This, we believe, is the right way to get communities to witness forgotten stories.
This approach also helps to make the documentation process as exhaustive in its coverage as possible, presenting a near-complete picture of the subject under consideration.
