A local villager, in tears, said, “For the last two to three days I couldn’t able to sleep for a second in the whole night due to gunshots. My entire family stayed awake in a room holding hand to hand each other. I don’t know when our scary night will be finished.”
These kind of sudden activities from the state authorities is not new and many locals believe such actions are a way to send a threat to Rohingyas to leave their houses. A local young man said, “It’s a deliberate attempt to create fear among us to flee. This is the plan of Burmese government.”
Since August 2017, more than 800,000 Rohingya were forced to flee due to Burmese genocidal operations.
