Aquaponics Build Update 9/2/2019
Hello Steemiverse!
This weekend I got back at working to complete the aquaponics system at my folks place. We recently bought a 100 gallon water trough from tractor supply for about $80 to use for the sump section of the system.
This is the lowest point of the system where gravity feeds the water via an overflow pipe from the main fish tank. This is continuously pulling solids from the tank, and sending them into the 2 swirl cone tanks so the solids will be removed.
After a few hours of digging I was satisfied with the depth the sump is positioned.
I filled the main tank, two cone tanks, and sump with around 280 gallons of water from collected rainwater.
I just connected up a 680gph pump, and started moving water through the entire system. I still need to build a gravel grow bed over the sump and make the final plumbing. We ordered a bigger 1300gph pump online as the head is about 8' and I would like to plumb the system with 1" pvc. I hope this gives y'all some inspiration about building your own backyard system.
Hope everyone had a fantastic labor day weekend!
Yours in liberty toward a brighter future,

Steem is Alive and so am I!! Thanks for the call now get outta the way...
Thank you @weirdheadaches this type of system I've found leads to the least amount of headaches while operating a smaller backyard system. Check out my friend @robbieolson page for some great information as well.

Thank you brother, yes It will be running through the winter as well. I'll be building a half hoop greenhouse that butts up to the garage, and building something for a solar water heat exchanger to keep the water temperature up during the winter months. Check out my buddy @robbieolson and his blog for some great information as well.
Great job sir makinstuff! Very impressive system.
