Human rights and social justice, towards sexual assaults, issues are on the rise to reinforce preventable efforts.

This started early 1976. Women marched rallies against rape and sexual assaults (commonly overnight) across United States. Overtime, entities formed to raise awareness of violence against women. One of the first entities is called National Coalition Against Sexual Assault (NCASA); founded late 1980s.

Thereafter, coalitions agreed on national Sexual Assault Awareness Week to push their agenda further. As a result, a week of April was selected. By the 90s, many supporters organized events throughout the month of April; further advancing April as a national observed month by 2001.

Every year, supporters wear the color and symbol of Sexual Assault Awareness Month: teal and teal ribbon. Most supporters wear Sexual Assault Awareness Month T-Shirts to show support. Here are some examples:
