Apple hires a key executive in the development of Intel 5G modems

in #apple6 years ago

For months, Apple and Qualcomm's legal dispute has been discussed with the first person suspending payment of the fees owed concerning their predominant position. However, the situation was almost suddenly resolved by the end of hostilities at mid-April 2019. This opened up interesting scenarios concerning Apple's use of 5 G modems on future iPhones (not in 2019, but at least as far back as 2020). Initially, there were numerous companies on the list but few with the correct credentials. Before Intel decided to exit the market for 5 G smartphone modems, Apple had little room for manoeuvre and probably resulted in (at least partial) a deal with Qualcomm. Thyagarajan is not an "ordinary individual" but the project manager of the XMM 8160 modems and one of the designers of the XS and iPhone XR modems. It is not yet clear what Thyagarajan's tasks are in Apple. You can only read "Apple Architecture" in his LinkedIn profile, but speculations have already begun. For instance, Qualcomm could work with the aim of optimizing its modems on the new iPhone 2020. No secret is how the company Cupertino is going to create "home" modems. This would optimize the integration between the different hardware and software subsystems, as was already the case for Processors. Another advantage is that third-party producers should no longer be dependent for implementation of road maps and also improve the development of devices.
