Summer Sunset ~ Stand Attention Heart Open
Those summer sunsets that make you stand attention, hand over heart: I pledge allegiance to all of this that is beyond me 🍃🌱🌳It is my flag, the earth is my nation, I am a citizen along with all of humanity. These wars of territory that came before me & will go on after me, do not distract me from standing attention and pledging allegiance to my human family & the earth we all grace & within this specific place & time, I give thanks for all that is mine to care for and to love 💓🌎
There have been some amazing sunsets around here, ones that call us to Stand Attention Heart Open.. the evocation of living in place and falling in love with the interaction of human and landscape over and over again is a true blessing in this world.
I haven't known it up until this point. I'm only 31 and this is the only place I've lived for any period of time except with my family when I was younger.
Walking through the gardens tonight with this light playing all around me was truly heavenly. I notice everything- this is a place where my handiwork sculpts and shapes the environment... and in this noticing, which can at times be overwhelming, I found gratitude in all the little details...
In the remembrance of placing that plant there and the story behind it. Of that plant that was there but recently died. Of that one that I'd forgotten about until it bloomed today (a lily from a friend)! And So Much More.
Of course we seek to give you a balanced view of homestead life.. knowing that this life is difficult and full of hard work and also contains moments like this of pure elation.
Tonight... it is all elation <3

amazing sky! especially the last photo, it is super symmetrical everything, generally i see the sky more fluid, but here lots of squares. beautiful! :)
looking also forward to going back to my village to see the sunset, i am stuck in my parents place in the city at the moment
This particular day was wildly striking. We have never seen the skies do this since.
