RE: Just used my super zoom bridge cam to capture this beauty. Here's to the green candles ...

Awesome pic.

Just curious, what kind of camera are you using? I have an older "superzoom" (a Canon PowerShot SX40 HS) and for the most part I've loved it. However, I recently picked up a Sony Alpha A37 used for cheap because I have an older Minolta 300mm lens that fit it. It takes much better pics, especially in low light but I do like the convenience of the all-in-one bridge cameras or "super zooms".

At any rate, I've been toying with the idea of getting a new one but I can't quite decide whether I want to go with one of the really super duper super zooms (my term :)) like the Kodak Pixpro AZ901 or the Nikkon P900 series which have ridiculous zoom levels (~2000mm or 80-90x) or going with (saving up for) something with a larger sensor like the Sony RX10-III or IV but with somewhat lesser zoom levels (~600mm or 20-30x) (but wow those Sony's are expensive cameras!)

Anyway, just curious what you had and how you liked it...

Hi @darth-azrael! So like you mentioned before - superzooms are really convenient to have in your arsenal. I did an extensive research on pretty much every model available in the market and in the end, settled with the Panasonic Fz 300. It's a 4K camera which is also great for video, has things like weatherproofing, long-lasting battery 600 X optical zoom and up to 2600 X digital zoom! It was around $500 two years ago - maybe cheaper now. If I'm going to upgrade it will definitely be a Panasonic Lumix superzoom again (with a bigger sensor). I'm personally totally in love with this camera and been using it lately a lot more than my Sony Alpha a6500 (daily driver before lumix)
