Open Letter from APPICS to the Community

Dear Community,

The last few weeks have been very turbulent for all users in this ecosystem.
Many people have asked us where we stand and what’s next for APPICS, and we've already talked about the situation in our own groups and community channels but today we’d like to make a statement to the community here on steemit as well, to transparently address how these changes will affect APPICS.

Background

If you’ve been on Steemit since the early days, you know the APPICS team has been with Steemit since summer 2016 and APPICS was planned to be the first Smart-Media-Token right after the initial announcement.
Our original plan was to focus mainly on our strength - which is to bring a mainstream audience to the crypto space through influencer marketing and achieve mass adoption.
But to achieve mass adoption, we needed instant accounts - and to create those, we needed more Resource Credits / Steem power delegation, which we never received.
We have an extensive network in the mainstream entertainment industry, and have exciting campaigns with celebrities and large brands planned.
However, we haven’t activated most of these campaigns and partnerships yet, because if one of these influencers should make a post about APPICS now, we are not able to guarantee instant accounts to all of their followers that would like to join APPICS .

So, the “partnership” with Steemit Inc. didn’t work out, there were several issues and promises that weren’t kept.
And yet, we remained optimistic and showed our support continuously for the last 4 years.

We took matters into our own hands and instead of waiting for SMTs to be released, we re-organised our funds and built a dual-blockchain-solution independently with help from the steem-engine team.

We understand that there is a lot of uncertainty in the community at the moment and changes that need to be addressed.

We will continue to observe the situation with STEEM and Hive, however as of right now, nothing changes for Appics and its users.

We simply utilize the Steem blockchain as a decentralized database to store data and manage user accounts and keys, which means our operations can continue as usual.

However, we don’t want to take any sides in this conflict.

We acknowledge that part of our community has left for hive and part of our community has stayed on STEEM, and appreciate both.
We simply try to make the best decisions for Appics, to be able to grow and introduce the masses.

What happens to Steem-Engine and its tokens ?

The steem-engine team has already announced that they will keep steem-engine running, but not work on any new updates there and solely focus on developing Hive-engine for the future.

This is very unfortunate for all dApps that are built on a steem-engine token.

Due to these news, we are now forced to move and expand our smart contract, to continuously have a functioning reward system, instant accounts etc.
We are aware that this situation is difficult for many dApps and there is a lot of uncertainty in regards to “what’s next”. Since we have our own operational plan at APPICS, we had to make a decision and create a solution.

So right now we’re in the process of collecting Blockchain features to implement in our own smart contract.

If you have ideas for features you’d like to see on APPICS in the future, now is the time to be apart of the process.

Apart from that, we would also like to implement a cross-posting solution in the future. This will enable users to cross-post their APPICS posts on other platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Hive etc.
This is part of our long-term plan but we have other features on our development roadmap that have priority for now.

Appics is neutral and will always remain this way.

We wish all projects success and believe a blockchain should be decentralized and united. We will always be in favor of unity and harmony throughout the community. We will bring blockchain to the masses and to achieve that we must all work together for the same cause and focus on a common goal.

Especially right now, with everything going on in the world, there is serious need for alternative systems and integration of blockchain.
With the global recession, and governments printing endless amounts of money, blockchain companies are being tested.

This current situation is exactly what blockchains were created for!

There is no competition in the space and we welcome dApps to join forces. The user experience should be the priority and it's great if Appics users can also use their account on Splinterlands, dTube, and other dApps. Together we will grow the ecosystem a lot faster.

We want what's best for Appics and our community.

Let's keep our focus on enhancing the user experience and raise awareness for blockchain. The majority of people in the world are still not aware of the new era and benefits of blockchain and the opportunities ahead, like being able to earn cryptocurrency for participating in a social network. There is a lot of work to do and great times to come, that we can choose to create and accelerate with the right kind of focus.
