APOCALYPTICA - Making New Friends [TEST ENCOUNTER]
The Story
Our newly formed group of survivors makes their way through the forest in search of food and shelter. They stumble upon a couple of guys milling about to the north west, it looks like they may be guarding something..
As you approach, one of the men from the group calls out "hey, stop right there, don't fucking move!".
You can now see they have weapons drawn, they look like they mean business. "NOW SLOWLY! Drop your weapons and bags on the ground..."

GAME RULES
Core Mechanics
Each player commands 1 in-game character per game.
While a game is in session a new post will be made daily that will include an update to the scenario story line and game board. A link to updated character stats and inventory is also provided in each new post.
A player has roughly 24 hours [until the next post is made] to respond to a post with their characters decisions and actions. If no response is received before the next post the player will be left in in its previous position on the game board and will gain both hunger and thirst. An unattended player is vulnerable to attack from nearby npc’s [bandits and foes].
Games are designed to last anywhere from 2-4 weeks in length, containing a few chapters/stages to complete. All characters entering a game will do so from the start of each game, plenty of advance notice will be provided. If you character is killed in-game you have to wait until the start of a new game to resume play.
NPC Encounter- When encountering npc’s on a map the npc’s may choose to attack without warning, this is similar to First Strike. The Game Manager will roll a D20 to determine who from the party the npc will attack first. When an enemy attacks a player they will roll for the attack to determine if it is successful, and then roll for your chance to defend. Visa versa when a player attacks an npc, the player will roll for their attack and then roll for the npc’s chance to defend.
Player Actions - Every new post each player has a maximum of 4 action points in which they may move around the board and perform a number of functions such as walk, run, attack, craft, cook etc. Some actions use more than 1 action point as seen below:
Action | Points | Description |
---|---|---|
Walk | 1 | Uses 1 action point to move 2 squares. |
Run | 2 | Uses 2 action points, moves 5 squares. |
Attack | 1 | Uses 1 action point per attack. |
Defend | 0 | Does not cost an action point to defend. |
Craft | 1 | Uses 1 action point per crafting attempt. |
Cook | 1 | Uses 1 action point per crafting attempt. |
Search | 1 | Uses 1 action point per item or square searched. |
Heal | 1 | Uses 1 action point per item used. |
Detain | 1 | Uses 1 action point to detain a player. |
Trade | 0 | Does not cost an action point to trade/sell/buy. |
Crouch | 0 | Crouch behind an object for +1 Defense. |
Attacking - Uses 1 action point per attack, attacking player rolls 1 D20 per attack and must have a clear line of site to the foe. If a players roll is equal to or less than their total Attack, the attack is successful. If a players attack is successful and the enemy does not defend successfully the amount of damage dealt is equal to the players total Strength.
A player may attack at any time, given they have the required number of actions remaining on their turn, and are within a line of site to their target. Once a target is engaged, a player cannot run from the fight. NPC’s have Attack, Defense, and Strength stats similar to players.
Line of Site - Attacking an opponent generally requires a direct Line of Site. Players cannot shoot through buildings, walls, or obstacles. Players can shoot overtop of small plants, bushes, boxes, and debris. The exception to line of site is weapons that can launch such a grande, molotov cocktail, grenade launcher etc.
Defending - Does not cost an action point to either the attacker or defender. The attacking player MUST roll for the defending npc after each attack attempt by rolling 1 D20. If a defending npc’s roll is equal to or less than their total Defense, the defense is successful. If a defense is not successful the amount of damage dealt is equal to the attackers total Strength.
A player must always roll for a chance for their enemy to defend after each attack attempt.
@shawnsporter @filandosmith Need a hand attacking?
Shawn if you want to move to behind the crates just state in your comment that you will use 2 action points to run behind the crates. Then you could attack with remaining action points from there..
Any questions just ask!

Frank mutters under his breath to Quin and Sologod "I dont know about you guys but I don't feel like getting robbed today.. I'll follow your lead, who you want to take down first?"
I got the guy on the right...before I attack though, can I take cover behind those crates?
