Antman and Wasp Quantumania (2023) Review
"Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania" serves as an excellent introduction to the new chapter of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The movie follows Scott Lang, also known as Ant-Man, played by Paul Rudd, as he attempts to resume his normal life with his daughter Cassandra Lang, played by Kathryn Newton, and his girlfriend Hope Van Dyne, also known as The Wasp, played by Evangeline Lilly, and her family, including her mother Janet Van Dyne, played by Michelle Pfeiffer, and father Dr. Hank Pym, played by Michael Douglas, after the events of the war with Thanos.
However, things take a turn when Cassie and Hank reveal that they have been experimenting with the quantum realm, which causes Janet to panic as she has experienced the quantum realm before. Chaos ensues when Cassie activates a device that sends the team into the quantum realm, and they find themselves in a world that is not what they expected.
As it turns out, Janet has a secret she has been hiding and knows more about the quantum realm than she initially let on. During her time in the quantum realm, Janet met a man named Kang, played by Jonathan Majors, who she thought was stuck in the quantum realm in the same way she was and had good intentions. However, it becomes clear that Kang has other plans for when he returns from the quantum realm, leading to a thrilling and unexpected turn of events.
If you have been following the Marvel films, I highly recommend watching this movie. To be completely honest, I absolutely loved it - I enjoyed it so much that I even saw it twice. The cinematography was simply incredible, and the film does a fantastic job of seamlessly weaving together various elements of the Marvel universe such as the quantum realm and the multiverse.
In addition to its stunning production quality, the movie was both entertaining and funny, with spectacular CGI that truly brought the story to life. It serves as an outstanding introduction to phase 5 for the Marvel Universe. The cast did an exceptional job, and the inclusion of side characters (such as Bill Murray, who was a bit of a surprise) only added to the movie's charm.
Overall, this was an extremely exciting introduction to Marvel's phase 5, and I cannot wait to see what the next chapter holds. If you're a Marvel fan, this movie is an absolute must-see.
This movie marks a significant evolution for Scott Lang's Ant-Man character from the previous two films. One of the best things about the movie is how effectively it showcases the potential of his technology and abilities. The film offers an entertaining and enjoyable experience for viewers, blending together action, humor, and science fiction in a unique and engaging way.
As Marvel fans, it's always exciting to see what new directions the franchise will take in new phases. The introduction of Kang as a new villain for the MCU is a welcome addition, and I'm eager to see more of this character in future movies. The CGI, cinematography, action scenes, and dialogue were all superbly executed, resulting in a fun and engaging experience overall.
"Mistakes Made in the Film."
As usual, there are a few minor criticisms. While the plot was excellent and the introduction of the Kang Dynasty was impressive, I was disappointed by how briefly Kang The Conqueror was featured, considering how strong he is portrayed in the comics. The story was dense, and unfortunately, Hope was somewhat lost in the mix. It would have been nice to hear more from her character. Unlike recent Marvel movies, this one sets the stage for future films to build upon, but it did have a few unnecessary characters and weak dialogue. Additionally, everything seemed to move at a fast pace, and some additional scenes in the beginning would have helped build excitement. Despite these issues, the movie left me wanting more.
