My people! Good day! I hope all you guys are having a fabulous Hump Day. Today, I'd like to show you photos of the antique Austrian pharmacy or apothecary that is installed at my shop, here in Cape Town.

It is a bonafide pharmacy straight out of the 1880's. It was purchased from an antique dealer in Belgium, but originates in Austria. As you see it in these images, is how it would have been all those years ago.

The only additions or restorations we have done are the new white marble tops, and the green and blue coloured glass. We have also just repainted its wooden floor, as it was getting holes in from the traffic.

The glass bottles and medicine jars are all original, and some even have some strange powders in them still. To be honest I have never opened any, for fear of inhaling some hundred year old heroin. You know how they rolled back in the day. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

We have people who come to visit our shop just to see the old pharmacy. It really is quite special, especially as we bought it intact, with the original floor, shelving and bottles. Sometimes I think I have become so accustomed to seeing it that I don't notice it's beauty anymore, but then I just take a walk through it and notice small things like the cracked vinyl on the shelves, and the beautiful Art Nouveau flower design on the front of the counters.

Tomorrow I am meeting with a potential buyer, who may take the entire unit. I would be so sad to lose this piece, but that is the nature of this business. We buy and sell beautiful things. Sometimes I become attached to items, but then I realise that the person who is buying the piece will get much more joy and use out of it than I would. I am always astounded to see where and how my clients out the items to use that they buy from me. Some of the ideas are creatively out of this world.

So, I will update you all tomorrow on the result of my meeting. If it is sold, it will feel like the end of an era for me. As the years tick by, more and more irreplaceable antiques pass through my hands. That is the beauty of my trade. We see and handle so many gorgeous pieces. I love to look through my "SOLD" folders on my computer and reminisce on all the timeless items I have bought and sold. It is quite a joyful job - to learn about furniture, lights and antiques, to learn to identify the different periods by the unique design characteristics each age has, and to pass that knowledge onto clients who often become friends. I am very fortunate to say that I love my job.

You could rent it for some movie shooting. Little polish maybe, and that's it :)

We do! We definitely do that sometimes :)

You should post some of the footage or shots you guys rent it out to people @princessmewmew!
That would be #epic #photography shots! Don't you think?

Iโ€™d love to. M, but the majority of shoot that happen are for magazines or films And we are definitely not allowed to take pics of that until they are published

Oh ok. Are these big time movies or just indie shoots going on @princessmewmew?

Both! The Giver with Helen Mirren was shot at our shop, but I couldnโ€™t see it at all when o watched the film. Strange

Wow would make for a "Sick" backdrop for a music video or jam๐Ÿ˜ฑ

Seriously cool piece, I almost hope it doesnt get sold๐Ÿ˜œ

Interesting I loved it I think I had only seen them on film, it is very beautiful I would love to visit the pharmacy

yes, it is so incredibly pretty. I will really miss it

aw .. goods bearing the traces of years! I always wondered about old things.
Sometimes this is an ornament, sometimes a wristwatch. Looking at photos and sharing, I think I want to live in those old years. I think I would be happier. while you are watching, you are breathing the air of years. There are many stories about who can be. love to share my dear friend :)
thank you so much

yes true, I sometimes think how I would have loved to live back then, but then I realise how good life is now, and I am happy to imagine what it would have been like back then

Awesome in my point of view

Although, I am not an antique collector or dealer, I do admire them. I love aged things and materials and I would love to see this pharmacy in reality. However, even seeing these photos is quite an experience for me. Thank you so much for sharing it with us and good luck my Dear ๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ’–

Itโ€™s my pleasure. Iโ€™m glad to see you.

I studied pharmac=y and biology and have always been interested in old pharmacy equipment. If I am ever close I'll come and take a look at it too.

Oh I would love that!

Nice, I love the old pharmacy style. It has something relaxing for me. But of course they do renovation everywhere and this style is getting lost. Would be nice for a movie scene (like Westworld), but the monkey is a bit displaced ๐Ÿ™‰. To be able to love your daily business is sure the best thing what can happen.

Wow that is a huge and seriously cool pilot pieces huge and such cool detail
I want to wish you good luck ๐Ÿ€ which from a business side is that they buyer takes it but it looks so good there good luck could also be the buyer doesnโ€™t take it and itโ€™s beauty stays in the shop

Tip!

you've said it perfectly โœจ that's exactly how I feel. Of course we need the money, but it would bittersweet to see it go. like saying goodbye to a lover that you know you will never see again

Thank you for the tip

Bittersweet is such the right word here

These antiques definitely shows the evolution of an older generation to a new one! They give us stories of before, that really is relevant for the children of today. One must know the past to understand today. We should thank our past for building the foundation of our today, even if it is something bad or good, it doesnt matter anymore for our history is what makes our now the Now that we are living! And now its our time to make our own history that will make a huge impact to our future. Hopefully @princessmewmew all your buyers will restore and preserve those pieces of history! Thank you giving us a lift to a time travel @princessmewmew, its just really nice to remember the past! By the way, again, I commend you for your beautiful photographs!

Truly Life is Beautiful! More Power @princessmewmew!

I so agree with you, to know where you are going, you must know where you are coming from.

We are making history as we speak, here on Steemit.

Iโ€™m glad you liked my pics, i do put a lot of effort into them.

Thanks for stopping by ๐ŸŽ€
