An oasis at the edge of Antarctica
When we think of Antarctica, most of us think of ice, snow and emptiness.
However, this is not completely true. Antarctica is vast continent, almost twice the size of Australia, and it has many different geological areas and it's still full of mystery.
One of these special areas is called the Bunger Oasis or Hills.
The Bunger Hills were discovered during Operation Highjump in 1946-47. Here is actual footage of its discovery:
The cause for the warmer temperature in this oasis is still not completely known and subject to heavy scientific debate.
Below a photograph of the Bunger Hills with the lakes melted. Credit to Bruce Wilson.
The Bunger Hills on Google Earth, shown with the fresh water lakes frozen. Striking is the rectangular shape.
If we go back to Google Earth and zoom out a little bit, we actually see that the Bunger Hills is part of a larger overall template, beginning at the South Atlantic Sea.
The total area of the within the red is over 1000 square kilometers big, and I spotted two odd anomalies. The first one shows an odd shape, partly ring, party hexagonal, about 100 meters in diameter.
The second anomaly seems to be an opening of some sort. As the scale indicates, it's roughly 35 meters in diameter.

Finally to show where both anomalies are located on the bigger picture:
What could be the cause of all these anomalies and the Bunger Oasis in general? Maybe there is geological / volcanic activity going on below the Bunger Oasis, or could there be something stranger going on? What do you think? To my surprise, I could not find a lot of information about it on the internet.
