ANONYMITY: DeepOnion in the midst of anonymous cryptocurrencies.

in #anonymous7 years ago

In recent months since the moves made by many governments to regulate bitcoin and other cryptocurrency, anonymity has begun to be eroded and technology are being made to give potential functions of anonymity to crypto.
According to Andreas Antonopoulos (an internet expert) in one of its lecture where he assumed BTC as a money, he believed BTC is yet to be appreciated of its real usage
and much is expected when the likes of drug dealers, criminals, pornographers, tax evaders etc really knows the full importance of cryptocurrencies.

Let's get to the history to know if anonymity have a record in the past. In mid 1990s when the U.S. intelligence are working towards protecting intelligence communication online
their scientist developed a core principle of onion routing which as well regards to as TOR. some years after the introduction of onion routing project, the project sees an upgrade for
improvement and to prevent exploiting the system. what is really the function of TOR developed? Tor enables its users to surf the Internet, chat and send instant messages anonymously. Now many
question is to arise, is anonymity needed in crypto? can TOR be the solution to anonimity in crypto? how efficient is TOR compared to other anonymity crypto?

There are different viable project that has emerged as due to the call for anonymity in crypto, examples are monero, dash, xvg, zcoin, DeepOnion etc
Monero(1) uses kovri protocol to provides its anonymity, Kovri is an I2P router in C++ which pushes transactions to the network within I2P to maintain privacy. but here we have a loop hole.
there can be attack where one can figure out which node is the origin of a transactions, this can void the total privacy that we may need in the future orelse acted upon in its upgrade.
Dash(2) uses coinjoin basics (darksend), Darksend uses the fact that a transaction can be formed by multiple parties and made out to multiple parties to merge funds together in a way where they
can’t be uncoupled thereafter but the loop hole stands in the masternode as the anonymity nof maternode owners is not secured.
As these two stands as the top anonymous cryptocurrency, I will need to give much of what DeepOnion complements in privacy function over the other anonymous crypto.

DeepOnion uses TOR network protocol integrated to blockchain network to provide its anonimyty and privacy function. As TOR network functions to hide IP of communication on a network, it can as well be used
to hide transaction on the blockchain network, this is what the DeepOnion team are working toward named DeepSend. According to the developer, DeepSend is the improved version of the SuperSend feature of Supercoin , qouted
"The DeepSend(3) will use a multi-signature method to hide the transaction trace. It is one of the true trustless systems that was first developed in Supercoin (you can read an extremely detailed technical explanation
of this technology here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1351548.0). What is important here is that we are adopting a tried and tested technology that is trusted by existing users. We will leverage this service
and develop an enhanced version of it providing further anonymity, speed and trust. Thus with DeepSend, our network and tx will be both secured and efficient.
Specific details on DeepOnion's implementation will be discussed at a later stage" With the above incorporated withthe TOR network its anonymity will be more of standard than other anonymouscruptocurrency.
