Is DragonBall Super breaking the DragonBall universe?

I just saw the new episode of DBS and I just can't shake the feeling that the final scene of the episode was written so lousily and predictable. I mean, through out the whole DragonBall saga we're being fed to the idea that you have to work hard to push through your limits and now we've come to a situation where Gokus only job is to get beaten so hard that he transcends to a state or a new transformation that gives him angellike powers. No real emotional trigger, just gettin beaten up to the point of almost dying and BAM! Ultra instict ( the name of a new state / transformation )

When Goku went Super Saiyan for the first time he was broken emotionally to the point where his anger almost made him a murderer but he kept his cool and spared his enemy Frieza. That was a huge landmark for the show and it caried a great message for the audience. I remember running home from school to watch that episode and losing my mind when it finally happened. I mean it is one of the greatest moments in anime history in general. But here in DBS the transformations feel so bland and not earned. Oh and don't even want to talk about the bad animation DBS has from time to time.

This all might be the problem with Toonamis aproach to the show. If it sells toys, it's good so more transformations = more toys. The show is ending in 3 episodes and is getting a new animated feature in december of 2018 and I really hope they look back and figure out why we loved the characters in the first place. It wasn't for the destination, it was for their journey.

My point here is, did DBS broke the DragonBall universe to the point that we could consider it as a spinoff or a what if storyline? DragonBall GT got erased from the canon, who knows, DBS might have a similar future. It's all up to our great father Akira Toryama :)
