Haikyuu !! is an anime sports genre, vollyball-red, which is lifted from the manga of the same title. Manga Haikyuu !! itself just started publishing in February 2012 and then, and now has sold more than 2 million copies.
Haikyuu !! tells the story of a boy named Shōyō Hinata who suddenly becomes very fond of volly sports after seeing a volleyball match on TV. Hinata who is in junior high school who does not have a volly club man was struggling to invite his friends to join the Volly club that will be formed.
Until finally collected were 6 people so they can compete in an inter-school tournament when they are in grade 3 junior high. But unlucky, this newly formed junior high school volley must face the championship club in its first game. The game went very unbalanced. Hinata and his team were defeated.
But in that match, the setter of the opposing team known as "King of the Court" named Tobio Kageyama, frankly acknowledged Hinata's unexpected capabilities. In fact he had time to say "Where have you been for these two years ???", because during the junior contest, he just found a player like Hinata when he was in grade 3.
Hinata who was defeatedly said that she will be in high school with a strong volley team and will defeat Kageyama during high school. Hinata finally chose to go to Karasuno high school, one of the high school with a team of volly ball that is known strong, though not the strongest.
On the day of the club's registration, Hinata could not help but notice the exercise room. Upon entering the practice room, Hinata was shocked to see Kageyama in the room alone. Apparently Kageyama also enroll in Karasuno high school.
Immediately after meeting, they also complained. How could Hinata keep her promise to defeat Kageyama if they were in a team? This lack of awareness also makes the senior becomes dizzy. The captain rejected them both.
Both are "kicked out" from the practice room, and may only join the team if both are able to work together. But actually the captain has other intentions of the "cruel" action. He believes that the Hinata and Kageyama couples are the future for Karasuno High School to dominate high school volleyball tournaments in Japan. Because it turns out the seniors are already mlihat match both of them at the junior level tournament, and recognize the extraordinary talents possessed by two first graders.
Will Hinata and Kageyama be able to quickly work together as the strongest pair of setters and spikes that will bring Volly's men's Karasuno high school team to be the strongest team in Japan as the seniors hope?
