RE: Darling In The Franxx - Episode 1 Review/First Impressions -

in #anime7 years ago

I posted my own impressions and I have my disagreements about where the show is headed but I believe you’ve made a significant error. A1 pictures does not have their own art style. As a studio they have no identity. The only similarities between their shows are the occasional crossover staff and the genre, which usually fits within industry trends.

The art is Trigger but with A1’s hired muscle.

Thanks for the response! It's nice to see other people's input on this platform. After reading through your review, I can agree on some points of what you have to say but I feel like the story can't progress as much as the both of us want it to in the 22 minute timeslot that it has to move the plot forward. The first episode seemed to push the rules (which it had a hard time explaining the "why" aspect,) more than the world and story which was a tad bit upsetting.

On the design point you are correct which is something I overlooked a bit when writing, but Masayoshi Tanaka (A-1)is responsible for the character designs, Shigeto Koyama (Trigger) is responsible for the mech designs, and Atsushi Nishigori (Trigger) is responsible for the composition of the art. So there is a little bit of flavor from everyone.

Thanks for commenting! I greatly appreciate it!
